A Pilot Randomized Trial of Heart Rate Monitoring Using Conventional Versus a New ECG Algorithm During Neonatal Resuscitation at Birth
Current guidelines support the use of a cardiac monitor during neonatal resuscitation. Preterm infants randomized to a novel ECG algorithm displayed a heart rate sooner than the conventional ECG algorithm. Although resuscitation outcomes were not different, availability of an earlier heart rate may benefit neonatal providers during high-risk resuscitations.
