Cautionary tales: The use of human milk in preterm infants.

In the last 40 years, the use of human milk as the primary nutritional source for preterm infants has changed from being a debatable novelty 1,2 to being a de facto standard of care 3, either as mother's own milk (MOM) or if MOM supply is inadequate as donor human milk Despite this, as two articles in this Vvolume of The Journal of Pediatrics remind us 4,5, there remains much to learn, or to re-learn, about the use of human milk in preterm infants.
