RE: Efficacy and safety of IV sildenafil in the treatment of newborn infants with or at risk of persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn

We read with interest the trial by Pierce et al investigating sildenafil in addition to inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) in newborns with PPHN. As stated, based on this trial, sildenafil is not superior to placebo(1). However, we feel that this conclusion needs adjustment.
