We appreciate the positive comments and thoughtful insights provided by Sajid et al. Given the large contribution that prematurity has on neonatal morbidity and mortality, our investigation focused on the comparison of mortality and early respiratory outcomes of very preterm infants (<32 week’s gestation) conceived via assisted reproductive technology (ART) vs spontaneous conception. Importantly, spontaneously conceived infants were matched in a 2:1 fashion by gestational age and multiple gestation status, and comparisons were adjusted for differences in sociodemographic status between the two groups.
