Gaps in Access to Reconstruction Compared to Audiologic Care among Children with Microtia

Reconstruction for microtia reduces psychosocial morbidity; timely referral for surgery is crucial. We evaluated specialist referrals for microtia at a major academic medical center. Only half of patients were evaluated at any point by a reconstructive craniofacial surgeon. Patients followed early for audiologic concerns may not be receiving timely referred for reconstruction.
