Can a smartphone jump start care for infantile spasms?

Infantile Epileptic Spasms Syndrome (IESS) is a rare, but very serious epilepsy. In IESS, sometimes termed “infantile spasms”[1], seizures can be subtle and mistaken for startles, reflux, or other benign movements, with delayed diagnosis common.[2] At the same time, delay to treatment reduces the chance of successfully controlling infantile spasms, and increases the risk of permanent neurodevelopmental impairment. This makes infantile spasms a “never miss” diagnosis for pediatricians.
