Most physicians in the United States have institutional compensation benchmarks based on those provided by various organizations such as the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and Association of Administrators in Academic Pediatrics (AAAP), while other organizations collect data on compensation, including base and incentives and work relative value units (wRVUs). Benchmarks on work expectations that clearly define work effort, whether clinical time expectations, academic, or administrative, are less common.
